John Dillinger Pistol
Gangster John Dillinger carried a pistol in the 1930s when he was robbing banks. It sold at a Heritage auction in Los Angeles for $95,600, much more than expected and probably more than Dillinger ever got in a hold-up. Could part of the interest be because of the new movie "Public Enemies," in which Johnny Depp plays the part of Dillinger?

Dillinger is probably the most 'romantic' of the 20th cwntury bankrobbers, followed by Al Capone. No surprise his pistol went that high. It had nothing to do with Johnny Depp.

D'you THINK??!! There is an entire young generation out there who never heard of Dillinger until this movie hit town. 1930s cops & robbers items will probably stay hot for the rest of the year.

I know of someone with a gun so similar to this one. Where would one go for an appraisal or history of it?
