Don't put vintage colored Pyrex mixing bowls in the dishwasher. After a few washings, the color is splotchy; after several, the color may be gone and you will have a white bowl.

Gosh, I've been doing it for years and have never had a problem--still colorful and shiny. My bowls are over 40 years old.
About the colored Pyrex bowls, dishwashers are evil, not just to Pyrex but any glassware with applied designs. They can turn a $200 Fire King coffee mugs into pieces that you can only hope to get $20 for. Gary
Also don't dishwash the refrigerator dishes with ribbed covers. I washed one from a full set with aqua rooster - a little color loss. Also smallest red ref covered dish has lost half of red color. I stress...wash old dishes by hand...gently.
My great aunt Sarah's bowl with the colored stripes around it has stripes no more. Color me sad. Wish I had thought about that earlier. Susie (I Love Kovels)
Sad to say, I have learned this the hard way...I have a vintage pie plate that is now splotchy pink. I have also been washing the lime green one the same way, but it is unchanged. Lucky for me, I found another pink one at a yard sale!

My Great Aunt Sarah's pretty bowl with colored stripes around it is striped no longer. Color me sad. Wish I had known earlier. (I love Kovels)
