Dear Terry, Ralph will be missed by dealers and collectors alike. The Kovels were a big influence on helping me to decide to follow my dream of becomming a dealer of antiques, you made it seem so easy. Your TV show was something I never missed, it showed me that there are treasures everywhere we just had to open our eyes, our minds and our hearts. Your book was the first I purchased when I started, and your books line my walls today. The two of you have touched my life so profoundly. The Kovels will always be in my heart and in my prayers. God Bless you Terry and Ralph, We love you!

Dear Terry & Family: So saddened to hear of Ralph's passing. Our condolences to all of you. May your grief be tempered by the knowledge that you will see him again!

I started in the antique business as a young lad back in the mid
1970's and always looked to both of you for information and guidance in this silly old game. Seems like a long time ago now, but really it was just yesterday in many ways.

Without your publications and advice, many of us just wouldn't have become proficient in this business that we all love so much.

You have both touched many more lives than you will ever know!
God Bless you and your family and GODSPEED, Ralph! Your memory will live on in hundreds of thousands of dealers and collectors all around the world!

With Much Love

It's so difficult to bid a loved one farewell, but perhaps knowing that Ralph was loved by so many will be a small comfort. While it has been nice to learn so very much about things of the past from you both over the years, Terry, enjoying the obvious love and good humor between you was priceless. I send blessings and condolences to you & your family. KS

My condolences to you, Terry, and the family. Ralph was a real gem! He will be missed world wide by all of us collectors, dealers and general packrats. Can you imagine his glee at finding no "chips, cracks or repairs" in Heaven.

Dear Mrs. Kovel and family,
Your family is in my prayers. Mr. Kovel had the ability to reach beyond the tv camera and printed word to convey a warm spirit and jovial spirit. One sensed that they knew him and relished in his easy ways and warm grin, especially as he gazed at his wife. I enjoyed every evening spent watching you both and had passed that tradition on to my "kids". May God grant you grace through this time.

Dear Terry & Family,

Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss of dear Ralph. What a delightful gentleman - and so interesting to watch and listen to him. I always found it especially endearing to see him explain how the most mundane objects could become fascinating collectibles. You and Ralph helped so many of us that deal in and love and collect antiques learn more and have always been a wonderful source of research and information. Thank you so much, and my sympathies to all of Ralph's family and loved ones for your loss. Sending many hugs from beautiful Colorado.

My deepest sympathy to Terry Kovel and family. Ralph will be missed by so many people as evidenced in a small part by these commentaries. Although most of us are strangers to you, we feel like we have lost a good friend and neighbor. Since we can't drop off a casserole, offer to help around the house or provide housing for out of town family members, we offer our condolences here. I hope it brings some small comfort to know how many lives have been touched and how many people will feel the loss of your Ralph.

I enjoyed immensely the banter between Mr.Kovel and his wife Terry. It always has reminded me of my own marriage of 33 years and our language for lack of better word. As an antique dealer I have hung on every professional word from this team of incredible experts.
Very sad to hear of Ralphs passing and Terry and family are in my prayers.

I first first received a Kovel "bible" (price book) in 1999. I then opened my antique mall and became very successful in the mall and on the internet which I feel I owe to the Kovel's. I was very saddened to learn of the death of Ralph and was shocked. May God bless him and Terry and remember..."This too shall pass"...

The world will certainly miss the humor and smile Mr. Kovel carried with him almost all of the time.

I don't know why I feel compelled to tell you all about a poem, a girl of 10yrs. old wrote. She shared it with me when she was 92.

I quote,

" I wish I were a little rock,
A sitting on a hill,"
"Doing nothing all day long,"
"Except for sitting still,"
"I wouldn't eat, I wouldn't sleep,"
"I wouldn't even wash,"
"I'd sit and sit, a thousand years,
"And rest myself by gosh.

My heart was saddened to learn of your loss. My mother was an antique dealer and my father restored antiques, first as a hobby that grew into a business they enjoyed into retirement with the help of Ralph and Terry's guidance and the knowledge they share through their publications. Mom and Dad both passed away within the past 18 months, so Ralph's passing caused me to take a melancholy pause and enjoy sweet memories of the way my parents' love of collecting and restoring antiques shaped our family life over the years and in particular gave my mother a renewed focus in life as she struggled with personal challenges. My parents never embraced technology while here on earth, they were quite antiquated themselves, but sure enjoyed your books and guides. You can be sure that while Ralph is going thru the cupboards in heaven, my dad will be checking out the tool sheds, cellars and barns! No cloud in heaven will be left unturned between the three of them! My love and prayers are with you, Terry and family, I pray God will give you peace and comfort as only He can provide.

Dear Kovel family,my deepest sympathy on your loss. I always loved the part on your show when one of you would find something and try to make the other guess what it was. His knowledge and his humor will be greatly missed. I always look forward to getting my newsletter. I own many of your books and they are so informative. And Terry especially to you my heartfelt sympathy on the loss of your husband and partner.

Ralph and Terry's Antiques and collectibles have been such a part of my life. Missing Ralph will not be as sad as it will be for his family.
In 2005 I lost my husband and know its a very hard thing to deal with,so I told everyone he is in heaven getting our cottage ready so when I come to join him I'll have a home waiting. I like to think that Ralph is on the other street building an antique home for Terry and filling it with tons of antigues for them both to explore. knowing my husband he's most likely over there helping Ralph getting it all set up.
God bless you all, keeping you all in my prayers.

When I started collecting vintage art pottery 25 years ago, the first reference book I bought was a Kovels. Later, I watched Ralph and Terry's television program religiously. I learned so much and I so enjoyed the down-to-earth comments, along with the information. The affection that Ralph and Terry felt for each other was so obvious, and never more so than when Ralph would inform Terry about some crazy purchase he had made--her facial expressions were priceless!

Terry, my sincere condolences on the loss of your life partner. We will all miss him too.

Terry
My condolences from another member your very large extended family of antiques fans and readers.

Your passion and expertise on antiques, your warm writing and your generosity is every bit the treasure as those objects we cherish. Your writing is about antiques, but also about love and life.

God bless your family.

We just recently came back to Kovels and are so sorry to hear of your loss. We know you will miss Ralph terribly, especially the first year. It looks as though you have many to lean on. They will want to do for you, let them it is their way of showing their love for you. Many will not really know what you are going through, but they will do their best to support you, even if you may not feel as though they are doing the right thing. They truly do love you and want to be a comfort to you.
May the Cofort, Love and Grace of God be with you always.

Terry and Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I feel like I knew Ralph from watching him on Flea Market Finds on TV. He always injected humor in the show and I admired both of your knowledge of the subjects of the day. I especailly felt close when you would tape shows that included the Mount Dora, FL Flea Market and Antiques Market since I l9ive very close to that. Ralph will be missed but never forgotten.

Sincerely,

This is such a shock. Your work and knowledge that you have shared with us over the years has been an asset to me as well as untold numbers out here. I have referenced my research to many of the books that you have written. I am an appraiser and this has been an important part of my methodology. I remember years ago, at an auction in Pennsylvania I observed Ralph and Terry in the audience diligently taking notes on current hammer prices (Oh look, they're taking notes for their next Price Guide!!). Yes, you two were real to me, you will both continue to be real to me. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. BAM !!

I am so very sorry for your loss- to you Terry, your family and the extended family of the staff at Kovels. I have loved your books, columns, newsletter and knowledge for many, many years- but finally seeing the two of you on TV, and that very special twinkle Ralph would get in his eye when sharing a particularly good deal was priceless.
Thank you for sharing him with all of us who love antiques-

The names Ralph & Terry are forever remembered as the First Word , & Last Word of the Antique Kingdom . I started at the age of 8 learning in the shops of Cape Cod . Later Up in Eaton Center N.H. , an antique dealer that I bought from each week (Ethyl Perkins , a lady in her 80's),Used to have the Kovels stop to visit her each autumn . She was always so proud when they visited .
Ralph will be missed , and still always be with us !

I had the pleasure of being the cameraman for Ralph and Terry for the filming of their Flea Market Finds show in the Chicago area back in 2001. My then girlfriend came along as one of our production assistants, and Ralph was more than happy to interrupt filming, to help her appraise and haggle over a beautiful 200 year old armoir. She was so appreciative that she brought Ralph a batch of her famous homemade chocolate chip cookies the next day. Needless to say, they became good friends. So it only seemed natural that I lean on Ralph and Terry for their help when it came time to propose marriage, and their videotaped efforts were so sweet....that it gave us a beautiful life long story as to how I "popped the question". Their joy at helping out spoke volumes about their kind and gentle natures. Ralph will forever be remembered and missed.
