BATMAN WHIPS SUPERMAN

Batman
The argument is settled. Batman can beat Superman--at least he did last week. Last Thursday (Feb. 25) Detective Comics No. 27, which featured the first appearance of Batman, sold for the new record price of $1,075,500 at a Heritage Galleries auction. The printed comic book, originally priced 10 cents in 1939, was in "8" condition (grading is 1 to 10). The price beat the $1 million record set by the first Superman comic book three days earlier.

SUPERMAN IS WORTH A MILLION

Action Comics No. 1
Action Comics No. 1, one of about 100 copies known to exist, sold in a private sale for $1 million on Monday. The 1938 comic book is in better condition than any of the others, which explains the high price. Other copies of this comic book, which introduced Superman and originally cost 10 cents, are reported to be worth over $400,000. The sale was handled by ComicConnect.com, an auction site.
