DUMB COLLECTIBLE OF THE YEAR

Scarlett Johansson was talking on the Jay Leno show on Dec.17 when she used a tissue for the cold she caught from Samuel Jackson in a movie scene. She kept the used tissue to sell online, the money to go to a charity. The tissue, sealed in a plastic bag autographed by Johansson, sold for $5,300.

  1. I am ashamed of anyone spending money on this nonsense! This is one person whose movies I will not see - and I liked her!
Shame on all those involved and just think what wonderful thing could have been done with that money for some people without power in this horrible winter weather. It does not say a lot for humanity when someone will spend on a kleenex full of ----!

  2. It must be wonderful in these hard economic times to be able to put a dollar value that extreme on something so utterly frivolous.
    Happy Holidays.

  4. "Collectible"? Maybe. Or maybe someone wants to use this to clone Scarlet. Anyway, the money went to charity so it's not a total loss. People HAVE been fascinated with the bodily parts or fluids of famous or infamous or holy people for thousands of years. Think of the relics of the saints...or a certain body part of an outlaw supposedly in the Smithsonian....or a lock of hair belonging to one's beloved and tucked into a book or special case. We do honor and cherish the body...even, perhaps, the less elegant parts of it!

  5. I cannot believe how shallow people have become....No wonder the movie stars and sports players are so over-paid..they are not a God, they are humans treated like royalty just because of some people that are willing to worship them. Shame on us all...

  6. How nuts is that in a world where people are hungry? Well maybe it was a good charity that really does help people.

  7. I agree that the person buying this used tissue is a nutjob. However, the $$ did go to charity, so that's $5000+ that the charity didn't have to start with.. so I'm all for it! If she saved every tissue and sold it for $5k.. wow! Too bad mine would only get 25 cents :) If that? Maybe if I offered free shipping :)

  8. Ridiculous--don't think saint body parts ever included germy, unhygenic, plague-spreading SNOT. A pox on Scarlett's house!--and whoever the idiot buyer was. Surely he/she will just burn it & not try for preservation & escalating 'value'... Good grief.

  9. Let's hope it wasn't REUSED !!
They say it takes all kinds, but I
    wonder what kind she is....

  10. I happened to be watching Jay that night, and couldn't believe my eyes. I felt it was very distasteful, and thought there must be a better way to make a charity donation!! Pretty disgusting scenario!!

  11. Edith Wharton anticipated this! Check following davincibible decode:

Life is the only real counselor; wisdom unfiltered through personal experience does not become a part of the moral tissue.

In case you missed it "Life is a red snot tissue" in a standard asynchronous pattern. Clearly red refers to Scarlett. Thus this person has purchased eternal life for only $5,300. A bargain.

  12. I'm guessing that someone and some business is going to get a giant amount of Public Relations concerning this.

  13. What is the buyer going to do with a bag of germs? Why not get something off a celebrity decent like a shirt or a piece of jewelry. This undermines the good work of our charities. No charity with any self-respect would accept a gift from this source

  14. Who is Scarlet Johansson and why would a sane person want one of her used snot rags ?

  15. Dumb is right!!!

She just sold her NDA to be used for who knows what.

She did this for the publicity more so than an act of charity, that's what I think.

  16. eeewwww... how can a snotty tissue be classified a collectible? Gee, I have a fortune in my trash basket!

  19. For all you people who were ashamed and outraged by this, get over it. It went to charity so who got hurt if anyone. You go Scarlet.

  21. How wonderful that $5,300 was raised for charity. There is nothing shameful, there is nothing frivolous (silly, yes, but they were all willing parties), there was nothing more than a flash in the pan in the way of publicity, and there is NO WAY this undermines the work of decent charities. Have you thought of how many vaccinations this would buy to save childrens' lives around the world? I prefer their lives be saved, rather than worry about the appropriateness of it. I wish those who object so vehemently to this would show a little charity. Cheers!
